Conservation

The IMMS has been a part of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network for the Gulf Coast including Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama since 1984. IMMS teams have always responded to local marine mammal emergencies as well as those as far away as South America. This has been done as a public service and all care, blood-work, transportation and release costs have been absorbed by the IMMS.

IMMS Construction Update

More progress is being made at our new Center for Marine Education and Research! Construction has been underway for several months and we are now witnessing concrete signs of progress.  Slabs have been poured for our necropsy laboratory, veterinary hospital, pump house / fish house, and administration buildings.  The steel structure for our pump house / fish house has been erected and the next step will be completing the outside walls and insulation of these buildings.  Our five pools are almost finished too, and only awaiting the connections of the piping to the pumps and filters once the pump house building has been constructed.  Our anticipation grows as the opening of our facility approaches as we watch it all come together. Keep checking for further updates!
